AMS05 is a new distribution center (DC), situated at Schiphol Trade Park, that is the first in the Netherlands to be able to provide for its own energy needs entirely by itself. The DC is thus designed to operate off-grid and is therefore independent of the public electricity grid.
The building can generate its own energy and the power that is not used in the building is fed back into the public grid. The building has been awarded the highest possible energy label of A+++++ partly for this reason.
Schiphol Trade Park is situated at one of the most strategic locations in the Netherlands, adjacent to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the third largest passenger airport in Europe, with over 63 million passengers a year and 250 destinations. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol ranks third in terms of cargo volume and is number three in air transport movements. In the next coming years, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will keep on expanding to maintain its prominent position in the world.
